Job Description

Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure smooth practice operations and high-quality patient care. Works in clerical, administrative, or clinical capacities and may perform specialized tasks as needed.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers screening tools.
  2. Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
  3. Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, verifies and records clinical data, and ensures adherence to quality standards.
  4. Monitors the environment for compliance with accreditation standards and evaluates practice schedules for updates.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge of the certified medical assistant scope of practice, incorporating holistic, patient-centered, and team-based care elements.
  6. Guides patients through the healthcare system and assists them in arriving at scheduled appointments on time.
  7. Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation, in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  8. Assists with patient referrals to appropriate specialists for diagnosis or treatment.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Care or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in healthcare services.
