Job description

Certified Medical Assistant

Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Ensures medical facilities run smoothly, and works in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity, and may even be asked to perform more specialized tasks.

Principal Accountabilities: (including but not limited to:)

Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.

  • Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
  • Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data and adherence to quality standards.
  • Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
  • Taking vital signs: Typically performed before a patient sees a doctor to establish a baseline for future exams.
  • Assisting with examinations: Working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory samples: Instructing patients on how to collect samples or drawing blood.
  • Greeting patients: Welcoming patients to the facility and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintaining medical records: Recording patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
  • Cleaning patient rooms: Sanitizing and reorganizing patient rooms between visits.
  • Prepping examination rooms: Ensuring the exam room is ready for the patient, including disinfecting equipment and stocking supplies.
  • Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
  • Assists with referrals of patients to the appropriate specialist for diagnosis or treatment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Full time, Days
  • Monday-Friday
  • 9a-5p

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certification CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
  • OR Precertification agreement must be signed if expired or receiving certification within 60 days of employment.

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in Health Care services.
  • 2+ Years Experience in outpatient, ambulatory setting.
  • BLS upon hire.
  • EPIC or similar EMR system.
  • Ability to work within computer systems.
