Job description

The DuPage County Health Department is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist nurses, prescribers, and clients in a busy outpatient psychiatric clinic, providing courteous customer service and adhering to office procedures. This role offers the chance to make a positive community impact and gain valuable experience in Human Services.

Position Details
  • Location: Offices in Wheaton, Lombard, Addison, and Westmont
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, three to four days a week, with one or two days from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Compensation: Pay may increase based on experience
  • Benefits: Full DuPage County benefits, including paid holidays, vacation, personal and sick days, pension eligibility, tuition reimbursement, and Public Service Loan Forgiveness program eligibility. See full benefits
Responsibilities
  1. Perform blood draws, urine drug screens, and manage labs
  2. Take and record client vital signs in ECR
  3. Manage inventory and monitor supplies
  4. Maintain required training, licensure, and certification
  5. Adhere to attendance and punctuality guidelines
  6. Participate in emergency response activities
  7. Maintain confidentiality and comply with patient privacy laws
  8. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding
  9. If bilingual, assist with interpretation
  10. Assist with filling out forms
  11. Monitor and log equipment data
Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a medical setting or equivalent training and experience
  • Completion of an AAMA or RMA accredited program and current certification
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Knowledge of office practices, medical terminology, and filing systems
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic communication
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred
  • On-site paid orientation in Wheaton required
