Job description

Job Description: Medical Assistant Lead

Assist physicians with various aspects of patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, to ensure patient satisfaction. Serve as a lead team member for day-to-day workflow issues and office procedures, in addition to core Medical Assistant responsibilities.

Work Schedule:
  • Day shifts (4x/wk): 8:00 am - 4:30 pm & 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
  • Evening shift (1x/wk): 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
  • Saturday AM Rotation: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Responsibilities:
  • Attend routine staff meetings to communicate procedural changes aimed at improving service quality and patient safety.
  • Participate in implementing department goals, processes, and procedures. Assist with the orientation of new staff members.
  • Relay instructions and educational information to patients as per provider instructions.
  • Document patient information in the medical record, adhering to all confidentiality policies and requirements.
  • Work with the manager to identify opportunities for improvement in clinical and nonclinical functions, including infection control procedures.
  • Serve as an office super user of EPIC Care as assigned.
  • Attend competency training and demonstrate proficiency in practice-specific tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications and vaccines, performing CLIA testing, collecting labs, TB skin testing, wound care, dressing changes, EKG, phlebotomy, and ear irrigation, among others, following established policies and procedures.
  • Handle patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  • Obtain lab and x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information; complete necessary forms and requisitions; schedule appointments; verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
  • Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment, and assist in patient examinations according to departmental protocols.
