Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (PRN/Variable) to support patient care under RN supervision. The role includes vital signs, daily living activities, documentation, and collaboration with the care team.

The ideal candidate holds CMA certification, is BLS certified, and can participate in ongoing education. The position emphasizes patient-centered care in a community hospital setting with no weekend requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant required.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Monitors and records vital signs, intake and output, and reports changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and ambulation.
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings.
• Maintains patient rooms and common areas to ensure a clean, safe, and organized care environment.
• Supports nursing and physician staff with patient care activities and unit workflow.
• Documents patient care and activities in accordance with hospital and unit standards.
• Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
