Job Opportunity: Certified Medical Assistant

Come work in the heart of the Historic Triangle! Our Williamsburg Clinic is a multispecialty facility housing 14 different specialties, including Hepatology, Thoracic Surgery, Breast Surgery Oncology, Cardiology, and more. We serve a diverse patient population ranging from adolescents to geriatrics, with pediatric providers in Family Medicine, Orthopedics, and Plastic Surgery. Our onsite services include various diagnostic tests and imaging. Our clinical team comprises RNs, LPNs, Athletic Trainers, CMAs, and a Sonographer, all working collaboratively to enhance patient outcomes and experiences. We also have a partnership with William & Mary, providing services to their staff and students, especially in Athletics.

Our clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-5 pm, with flexible scheduling. We are eager to add a motivated individual to our team who is enthusiastic about developing their skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Position Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the care plan, under the supervision of a physician.

Requirements for Hire
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national professional association (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NCHP, ARMA, NHA).
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
Experience
  • At least 1 year of medical assistant experience within the last 3 years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • No experience required if a graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer and software applications like Microsoft Office and email.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Experience
  • 2-3 years as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Experience in an academic healthcare setting.
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program (e.g., CAAHEP, ABHES).
Additional Requirements

Functions under supervision of licensed practitioners, managers, and RNs. May include handling medications and supplies. Must be flexible to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, with schedules coordinated with your Nurse or Practice Manager.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs, prolonged standing and sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.
  • Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, clear speech, reading, logical thinking.
  • Emotional: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, adapt to change.
