Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - Physician Office - Piedmont Ortho

Join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in the Physician Office - Piedmont Ortho setting. We are committed to improving healthcare quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness, and we value compassion, collaboration, excellence, and respect.

Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant works closely with primary care physicians to deliver excellent patient care, including reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms.

Essential Functions
  1. Provide excellent customer service by greeting patients and visitors respectfully.
  2. Verify and review patient charts, diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records for accuracy and completeness.
  3. Measure vital signs such as pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  4. Perform clerical duties like checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active Medical Assisting certification from an approved organization (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, NCCT). An Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) may be acceptable if certification is not obtained, excluding South Carolina.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire for some locations, preferred or required prior to independent patient care).
  • One year of healthcare experience as a medical assistant (preferred, not required).
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required).
Skills & Abilities
  • Problem-solving skills, basic computer proficiency, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional interaction with staff and patients.
