Job Summary

Geisinger offers outpatient Certified Medical Assistants a $3,000 bonus for eligible candidates. The organization operates hundreds of community sites, allowing Certified Medical Assistants to work to the top of their certification while providing excellent care in an ambulatory setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and clinical support in outpatient settings.
  • Assist physicians and healthcare providers as part of the healthcare team.
  • Perform clinical duties such as preparing patients, collecting information, performing technical tasks, documenting in electronic medical records, and ensuring patient safety.
  • Support administrative functions including scheduling, filing reports, and follow-up on documentation, calls, and billing inquiries.
  • Document patient information using the electronic medical record system.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms between patients.
  • Assist patients in preparing for visits, ensuring safety and privacy.
  • Perform procedures such as EKGs, wound dressings, and support during minor surgeries, as directed by the provider.
  • Administer medications and complete tests as per policies and competencies.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and assist with lab functions.
  • Support clerical duties including filing reports and managing referrals and pre-authorizations.
  • Communicate with patients and providers to facilitate care and follow-up.
  • Maintain infection control protocols and sterilization procedures.
Position Requirements
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Certification from NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
