Job summary

Saint Vincent Medical Group is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support the daily operations of the outpatient orthopedics clinic. You will help the physician with exams, triage patients, and manage patient education and vitals to ensure smooth flow.

The role requires a high school diploma or MA program completion with BLS certification. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; a friendly, professional demeanor is essential for top-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program or 3 years' relevant work experience.
  • MA certification through NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, ARMA, or HPRUS with up to 90 days to obtain.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Medical Assistant diploma or 3 years' relevant healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician with daily operations of the physician's office.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow and assist with patient care (exams, procedures, education).
  • Perform triage, monitor and record vitals.
  • Perform EKG and phlebotomy as applicable.
  • Ensure medical documentation of office visits.
  • Maintain courteous and professional interactions with patients and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist physician with the daily operations of the physician’s office
  • Maintains efficient patient flow and assists with patient care, i.e. exams, procedures and patient education under the direction and supervision of a physician
  • Performs triage, monitors and records vitals of all visiting patients
  • Perform EKG and Phlebotomy, as applicable
  • Ensures medical documentation of office visits
  • Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner
Qualifications

Education:

Required: High school diploma or GED

Required: Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program OR three years of relevant work experience in lieu of completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program

Certification:

Required: Medical Assistant Certification required through one of the following; National Healthcare Association (NHA), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant by the American Medical Technologist (AMT), National Center for Competency Training (NCCT), the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or Healthcare Professional Registry of the US (HPRUS) (Will allow 90 days to obtain certification)

Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience:

Required: Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school OR three years of relevant work experience in a healthcare setting in lieu of Medical Assistant diploma

Preferred: At least one year of relevant work experience
