Position: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Primary Care Float Pool - Sahara Trail

We will accept non-certified medical assistants; certification required within 12 months of start date.

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant works closely with primary care physicians to deliver excellent patient care, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for examinations.

Essential Functions:
  • Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
  • Prepares and reviews patient charts for upcoming visits, verifying all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and current.
  • Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Performs clerical duties like checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed.
  • Must troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • High School Degree or GED.
Licensure/Certification:

Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):

  • CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or NCCT certification from recognized bodies.
  • If unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not in South Carolina).

BLS Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association is required at hire for some locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at others.

Experience:
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required).
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required).
Skills & Abilities:
  • Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Engagement with staff and patients professionally.
Job Summary (LPN):

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides patient care under the physician's direction. Responsibilities include assessing patients, recording responses to medical care, and collaborating on care plans.

Essential Job Functions (LPN):
  • Analyze assessment data and evaluate patient conditions.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff under provider or manager guidance.
  • Coordinate patient care with other healthcare entities.
  • Administer medications safely, adhering to policies and state requirements.
  • Serve as a clinical and professional mentor within the practice.

This list is not exhaustive; employees may perform other duties as required.

Licensing/Certification (LPN):
  • Active LPN licensure.
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association.
Work Experience (LPN):
  • One year of clinical patient care experience (preferred, not required).
Skills & Abilities (LPN):
  • Knowledge to provide appropriate care to all ages.
  • Ability to learn and operate computer-based scheduling and registration systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
