Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team in Somerset, KY. You will support neurosurgical providers with clinical care and administrative tasks, help with patient assessments, specimen collection, and documentation to ensure safe, efficient care.

Under supervision, you will maintain exam areas and equipment, assist with scheduling and registration, and contribute to a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited medical assisting program or equivalent.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
• CCMA, CMA or RMA license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient assessments and treatments under supervision.
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Document patient care provided.
• Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.

The Medical Assistant supports neurosurgical providers at Lake Cumberland Physician Practices (LCPP) by providing high‑quality clinical care and administrative support. This role is essential in ensuring efficient clinic operations, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and an exceptional patient experience. The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to support both patient flow and revenue cycle processes.

How You'll Contribute

A Medical Assistant (MA) who excels in this role:

• Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
• Documents patient care given.
• Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
• Maintains examination areas.
• Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should be a graduate of accredited medical assistance program or equivalent. Additional requirements include:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred
• CCMA, CMA or RMA license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) obtain within 60 days of hire.
