CAN Community Health, Inc. is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) I in Fort Myers, FL. This full-time, day-shift position includes phlebotomy, front-desk support, and patient intake tasks. A sign-on bonus is available for applicants who apply by August 31, 2026.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited CMA program, CPR certification, and certification within 6 months. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Practice safe phlebotomy and venipuncture.

Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift | Monday-Thursday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm Friday 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Extended Hours Schedule (bi-monthly rotating schedule): Weekday 10 am - 8:00 pm; Weekend 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Pay Rate: $23.27 - $26.76 hourly based on experience

What You’ll Do

This position is responsible for the duties of a Medical Assistant, assisting the front desk as well as performing phlebotomy.

Medical Assistant-Primary Tasks

1. Performs medical intake procedures including vital signs and history.
2. Performs complete patient evaluation and assessment.
3. Records and reports on symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in patient's conditions.
4. Performs immunizations as directed by the physician.
5. Practice safe phlebotomy skills using standard precautions

Front Desk-Primary Tasks

1. Practice CAN Community Health's mission, vision, and values
2. Greet and assist patients with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
3. Accurately collect, process and post patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles and outstanding balance.
4. Verify and updated patient insurance information and eligibility during check-in
5. Schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing any necessary follow-up for missing documentation

Phlebotomy Tasks

1. Perform venipuncture and fingerstick on all patients as ordered
2. Identify patients using two unique identifiers and verify test orders prior to specimen collection.
3. Prepare collection sites using aseptic technique and select appropriate collection equipment.
4. Label specimens accurately at the point of collection.
5. Process, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for transport or analysis according to laboratory protocols.

Requirements

Education/Professional Experience:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required
2. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
3. Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA) is required or ability to achieve certification within 6 months of hire.
4. CPR certification required
5. 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting preferred
6. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
7. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver's license.
