Certified Medical Assistant/CMA – Heart & Vascular Specialists – Full Time, Days Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together

Sign-On for Eligible New Hires

Work location: 3142 Horizon Road, Suite 110, Rockwall, TX 75032

Work hours: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Travel: 25% to Dallas clinic on Wednesday’s for physician coverage at 8440 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75231

Here’s What You Need
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  2. CMA - Current Medical Assistant Certification Upon Hire (required)
  3. 1 year Medical Assistant experience (strongly preferred)
  4. BLS (strongly preferred)
  5. ACLS (preferred)
  6. Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood and administer injections
  7. Basic computer skills using medical management application systems
  8. Effectively communicate with staff and patients
  9. Thorough knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology and abbreviations
  10. Demonstrate sound judgement in emergency situations
  11. Take appropriate action in urgent circumstances
  12. Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward staff and patients
  13. Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
What You Will Do
  1. Delivers care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process
  2. Performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  3. Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider.
  4. Obtains and records vital signs including, but not limited to: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  5. Documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
  6. Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.
  7. Prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments and maintains equipment, disposing of contaminated items according to protocol. Keeps patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly.
  8. Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  9. Ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
  10. Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
  11. May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
  12. Administers ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
  13. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform routine tests such as EKG.
  14. Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing. May work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned by practice manager, more senior staff, or as requested by healthcare provider(s).
