UVA Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for ambulatory care to provide clinical and administrative support under supervision. The role includes patient care, vital signs, phlebotomy, point-of-care tests, ECG, and specimen handling, plus scheduling and chart prep.

Responsibilities focus on efficient clinic operations, accurate data collection, and supportive teamwork with licensed professionals. Certification in BLS and a recognized Medical Assistant credential are required.

Formación

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Licensure/certification: AHA BLS certification required and Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national professional association such as AAMA, AMT, NAHP, ARMA or NHA.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with patient care, vital signs, and data collection.
• Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, ECG, spirometry, and room/clinic preparation.
• Provide administrative support: scheduling, forms completion, in-basket messaging, and chart prep.
• Document and capture charges for clinical support services during patient visits.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, safety, and a safe environment for patients.
• Demonstrate teamwork and support for the care team and patients.
• Support professional development and adapt to other duties as assigned.

Educación

AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification

Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA AMT NAHP ARMA NHA)
