Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with an AAMA, RMA, or NHA certification or approved equivalent required.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with procedures as necessary for patient care according to clinic policies and procedures.
• Manages medication knowledge, administration technique, dosage, and side effects.
• Reconciles medications in the EMR with each patient encounter.
• Performs medication order entry in EMR per policy guidelines.
• Administers provider-ordered medications per policy guidelines.
• Transmits prescriptions electronically to patient’s pharmacy and documents in the medical record.
• Collects patient data, including vital signs, allergies, history, and medication lists, and communicates findings to the provider.
• Maintains accurate documentation in medical records and logs.
• Performs front office duties such as phone handling and scheduling.
• Registers patients using appropriate data entry and verifies insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Manages cash payments and co-pays; refers complex financial questions to counselors.
• Follows AIDET protocols during registration and patient interaction.
