Job summary

The Certified Medical Assistant at the Medical University of South Carolina helps support decentralized, patient-centered care in an outpatient infusion and clinic setting. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CMA performs multi-skilled tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.

Minimum training includes a high school diploma and accredited medical assisting program; one year of patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
• One year of patient care experience preferred; basic computer skills required.
• Annual competencies are required to be maintained; must understand and implement detailed instructions.
• Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager and supports decentralized patient‑centered care to achieve outcomes.
• Performs multi‑skilled activities under RN supervision in an outpatient setting to support clinic operations.
