OverviewUnder the supervision and/or direction of the physician or nurse performs various duties assisting with the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established standards.
Responsibilities- Perform Point of Care Testing and quality control.
- Performs EKGs as necessary.
- Ensures positive patient identification. Understands how to utilize the following systems: Current health information system, DI (Document Imaging), DHIN (Delaware Health Information Network), Gold, Provider Portal, Web sites for insurance verification/eligibility and other systems as needed. Follows protocols appropriate for the practice.
- Completes office support tasks accurately and within required time frames.
- Returns and retrieves messages timely and utilizes the EMR inboxes to sort messages.
- Routinely demonstrates proper technique in operating all office equipment.
- Maintains clean/stocked patient care area. Medical Assistant Skill Proficiency.
- Assists nurses/techs with patient preparation for examinations, treatments and/or procedures.
- Prioritizes.
- Demonstrates initiative. Readily seeks out duties and works with all staff to render assistance.
- Completes all duties in a positive and productive manner.
- Takes an active role in performance improvement.
- Conscious of biohazard safety as it relates to the job; manual delivery of specimens to lab, changing of gloves between patients.
- Handles specimens using proper techniques. correctly labels for transfer to lab.
- Routinely performs all duties using appropriate PPE and in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
QualificationsTwo years medical/clinical experience as a Medical Assistant OR graduate of Medical Assistant Program.
