Job summary

MedStar Health in Baltimore is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider and/or a registered nurse. The role includes venipuncture, vaccine administration, vital signs, and assisting with patient exams, with the ability to float to other sites within the system.

The position emphasizes teamwork, patient flow, and adherence to safety and quality standards, along with basic computer skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year 6 months experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required. externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting strongly preferred.
• For Cardiology offices only: 6 months experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent required or Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology/science or related major or successful completion of a cardiac technician course.

Responsibilities

• Assists providers with patient preparation for examination, minor office procedures, and with the examination and education of patients.
• Performs venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, measurement and documentation of vital signs, and assists providers with patient exams.
• Participates in daily team huddles to review and prepare for scheduled patient visits and screens patients for preventive care needs and safety concerns.
• Documents activities accurately in the patient’s EMR and performs required follow-up tasks.
