Job summary

Cooper University Health Care in New Jersey seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support patient intake and clinical workflows. The role requires organizing exam rooms and assisting providers with procedures in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Set up patient in the exam room and prepare for visit.
• Take and document vital signs; perform EKGs; reconcile medications; record reason for visit.
• Interview with patient about changes in health since last visit.
• Assist provider with minor surgical procedures.
• Prepare medications for injections.
• Handle phone messages, faxes, and front desk duties as needed.
• Knowledge of medical insurance terminology and scheduling in computer systems.

Short Description

• Responsible for setting up the patient in the exam room
• Perform and Document:
• Vital signs (manual BPs),
• EKGs,
• Reconciliation of medications
• Reason for visit, health care concern
• Interview/Discuss with patient changes in patient’s health since last visit
• Assist the provider with minor surgical procedures
• Prepare appropriate medications for injections
• Responsible for phone messages, faxes, and Medical Reception responsibilities as needed
• Knowledge of medical insurance terminology, computer skills for scheduling and familiarity of general office procedures and equipment
