Job summary

Sentara Gastroenterology Specialists in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our team. This role includes patient care and administrative duties under the direction of physicians and mid-level providers.

Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus up to $5,000. Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred), active CMA/RMA/NREMT-Basic certification, and BLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Active CMA, RMA, or NREMT-Basic is required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under supervision of licensed clinicians.
• Assist with routine clinic procedures and chart/documentation.
• Support patient flow and ensure accurate patient information is recorded.

Position Location: Norfolk, VA

Overview

Perform patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Active CMA, RMA, or NREMT-Basic (Required)
• BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Experience

• 1 year of clinical or administrative experience (Required)
• Phlebotomy experience (Preferred)

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $21.69 - $32.14 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
