Qualifications

Position Overview:

The Clinical Assistant will serve as an essential member of the healthcare team, ensuring quality care coordination between physicians, patients, families, and external providers. This role involves both clinical and administrative responsibilities, supporting daily operations for physicians and providing direct patient care assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
  • Coordinate daily activities and patient flow for the physician team.
  • Assist patients with procedures, examinations, specimen collection, and point of care testing.
  • Perform clerical tasks, including managing medical records, processing referrals, and handling documentation in EMR systems.
  • Prepare and submit prescription refill requests for physician approval.
  • Maintain medical supply inventory and ensure exam room readiness following infection control policies.
  • Manage equipment logs, refrigeration of medications, and compliance with sterilization and crash cart protocols.
  • Assist with scheduling surgeries, pre-admissions, consent forms, and phlebotomy as needed.
  • Support appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and patient registration.
  • Mentor and guide Medical Assistant Level I staff.
  • Supervise clinical office support workflow and adjust staff schedules to meet patient volume demands.
  • Ensure adherence to HIPAA guidelines, personal protective equipment protocols, and patient safety standards.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant; 5 years preferred.

Skills Required:

  • Basic proficiency in the MS Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills, especially with multicultural and language-deficient patients
  • Excellent interpersonal and telephone etiquette skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA guidelines, and electronic medical records (preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Adaptability to dynamic and growing healthcare environments
  • Basic computer skills

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Certification:

  • Certified Medical Assistant from an approved school or equivalent training/experience required.
