Job summary

Kernodle Clinic in Mebane, NC seeks a patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant to support our busy family practice. The role requires CMA certification and BLS; EPIC experience is a plus. Experience is preferred but not required, with a Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule.

All candidates must graduate from an accredited MA program and be able to document vital signs, histories, and routine patient care per physician orders and clinic policy.

Qualifications

• Graduates of an accredited medical assistant program.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required or preferred (AAMA/AMT).
• BLS certification through AHA required.

Responsibilities

• Take medical histories and record vital signs, explain procedures to patients and prepare for examinations.
• Plan, provide and document medical assisting care under physician/APP orders and policies.
• Record initial assessments: weight, height, BP, pulse, temperature, and pain; update allergies/medications in EPIC.
• Concisely document patient calls, orders, and transactions in the medical record.
• Support other clinical tasks including specimen processing, med prep, and pharmacy communications.

Full Time CMA Position for Busy Multi-Specialist Clinic, located in Mebane, NC.

Kernodle Clinic is a respected and progressive multi-specialty group practice with office locations in Burlington, Mebane and Elon. We are a community leader that offers challenging and rewarding opportunities for our employees. Kernodle Clinic is a multi-specialty practice with more than 100 providers located just off I-40/I-85. We are currently seeking patient-focused individuals for a Certified Medical Assistant to support our Mebane Family Practice. This position would be located at the Mebane Kernodle Clinic location. Experience preferred but not required. EPIC experience not required, but a preferred plus. Schedule would be Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Duties Include, but not limited to the following:

• Takes medical histories and records vital signs, explains treatment procedures to patients, and prepares patients for examinations and procedures.
• Plans, provides, and documents professional medical assisting care utilizing the medical assisting process, in accordance with physician/APP orders and established policies and procedures, under the supervision of the department manager.
• Promptly and accurately completes initial assessment including taking / recording weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pain assessment. Asks chief complaint for visit, and updates allergies and medications in EPIC. Notes abnormal conditions. Collects and analyzes patient data, documents and communicates appropriately medical assisting actions taken and patient responses of the actions taken.
• Concisely document all patient related calls, orders, and transactions in the medical record.
• When providing direct patient care, including patient related telephone conversations, employees use double identifiers to ensure right patient every time.
• Other clinical support responsibilities include disposing of contaminated supplies, instrument processing, high level disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments, telephoning prescriptions to a pharmacy, preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician, and authorizing drug refills as directed.
