Job Summary

As a Medical Assistant at East Texas Family Medicine, you'll support clinical operations, ensuring smooth patient care and assisting our community's health. Join our purpose-driven, rapidly growing team committed to making a positive impact!

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Manage patient rooming to efficiently meet daily appointment schedules.
  2. Review presenting issues, visit history, orders, and update EMR appropriately.
  3. Assist physicians or advanced practitioners with examinations or procedures.
  4. Obtain vital signs and prepare patients for visits.
  5. Be fluent in medical terminology & medication refill protocols.
  6. Assist with scheduling, answering phones, and updating records.
  7. Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
  8. Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Escalate issues outside protocols to meet patient needs.
  10. Follow HIPAA privacy rules when discussing sensitive health information.
  11. Meet performance and service level criteria.
  12. Collaborate with diverse professionals in a team environment.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
  • Active and current Medical Assistant certification.
  • Competent with desktop software, practice management, and EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Preferred Experience
  • 1-3 years of related experience, preferably in a Primary Care outpatient setting.
  • Athena EMR experience.
  • BLS certification with hands-on training.
