Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in delivering healthcare services. You will assist during exams, take vital signs, obtain medical histories, and help with patient forms such as FMLA. Prepare rooms and maintain a safe, efficient clinical environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and CMA/RMA/CCMA certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months. A valid state driver’s license is required for palliative care assignments, with opportunities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Current CMA/RMA/CCMA certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Current State Driver's License (Palliative Care Only) required.
  • Previous work in a medical office is preferred.
  • Ability to complete general and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist providers in delivering healthcare services.
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures.
  • Take vital signs and obtain medical histories.
  • Assist with patient form requests such as FMLA or other needed forms.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for treatment.
  • Ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective care for patients.
  • Engage in teamwork and community involvement to enhance patient care.
  • PRN - needed at the clinic 2-3 days a week; days vary.

What We\u2019re Looking For
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
    • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.
  • Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
