Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers in a busy medical office in North Wilkesboro, NC. You’ll take vital signs, prep exam rooms, and assist during exams and procedures, ensuring safe, efficient patient flow.

Required are a High School Diploma or GED and CMA/CCMA/RMA certification or ability to obtain within six months; prior medical office experience is preferred. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient care, and adherence to certification timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist providers in delivering healthcare services.
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures.
  • Take vital signs, obtain medical histories.
  • Assist with patient form requests such as FMLA or other forms.
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for treatment.
  • Ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective care for patients.
  • Engage in teamwork and community involvement to enhance patient care.
  • Will float within the practice to handle inbasket work/fill-in when someone is off or busy.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
  • Education:High School Diploma or GED, required.
    • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement, required.
  • Experience:Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
  • Additional skills required:Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
