JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates patient care with physicians, assists with assessments, administers medications as per physician orders, and supports administrative duties to enhance patient care.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Clinical Support
- Greet patients, escort them to exam rooms, prepare them for treatment, and record vital signs.
- Assist physicians as needed.
- Perform spirometry and other breathing tests.
- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment, including sterilization.
- Provide patient education when appropriate.
- Document in patients' medical records accurately.
- Call in prescriptions as ordered by physicians or nurse practitioners.
- Perform allergy prick and intradermal testing as ordered.
- Administer allergy injections following physician-approved schedules.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions post-injection.
- Maintain emergency equipment such as oxygen, suction, and code kits.
- Respond to patient-related calls according to protocol.
- Follow up on referrals and insurance authorizations.
- Maintain clinical supplies and medication samples.
Other Duties
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and practice policies.
- Stay updated with practice management and other relevant software.
- Attend required CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, and OIG training programs.
- Participate in regular meetings.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager.
- Complete all required training within designated timeframes.
- Adhere to Allergy Partners and department policies, reporting violations accordingly.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- CMA certification preferred.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum one year of clinical assisting experience.
- Proficiency with email and internet applications.
- Knowledge of practice management and word processing software.
- Strong communication skills.
- Neat, professional appearance.
