RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for Barnabas Health Medical Group in Towne Centre Family Care, Hillsborough, NJ. You will support providers, take vitals, document histories, and assist in exams to ensure quality patient care.

This day shift role (8am–5pm) offers competitive hourly pay and a caring, team‑oriented environment. Requires CMA credential, 6 months CMA experience, and BLS; Epic EMR knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold current CMA credential (AAMA, AECA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA or NHA).
• Minimum 6 months CMA experience required; EMR experience preferred (Epic).
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Excellent communication and compassionate patient care in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to balance clinical and administrative tasks while maintaining accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Preparing patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs and documenting histories.
• Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures and anticipating needs.
• Administering injections, collecting specimens, point‑of‑care testing within scope.
• Documenting patient information and test results in the electronic medical record.
• Coordinating patient flow by preparing exam rooms and managing supplies.
• Providing clear education to patients about medications and follow-ups.
• Scheduling appointments and processing referrals with the care team.
• Contributing to a collaborative team with patient-centered care as a priority.
• Pursuing ongoing professional development through training and resources.

A typical day for a Certified Medical Assistant may include:

• Preparing patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, documenting medical histories, and ensuring they feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit


• Assisting physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations and procedures, anticipating clinical needs to support efficient, high-quality care


• Performing clinical tasks such as administering injections, collecting specimens, conducting point-of-care testing, and completing other duties within scope of practice


• Accurately documenting patient information, test results, and provider instructions within the electronic medical record to support continuity of care


• Coordinating patient flow by preparing exam rooms, maintaining supplies, and helping ensure appointments run efficiently


• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients regarding medications, treatment plans, follow-up appointments, and preventive care
