Job summary

The Field Medical Assistant will accompany a Nurse Practitioner to provide in-home visits across the Southshore region, including New Orleans area. Travel-friendly role requiring organization, reliability, and strong record-keeping in EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Willingness to travel across Southshore/New Orleans area.

Responsibilities

• Travel with and support the Nurse Practitioner during in-home visits.
• Assist with vital signs, patient history, medication reconciliation and documentation.
• Prepare and maintain clinical supplies for field visits.
• Facilitate communication between provider, patient and care team.
• Ensure timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Support care coordination and follow-up needs identified during visits.
• Provide ESOP information and company-paid ownership benefits to patients.
• Assist with mileage tracking and scheduling as needed.

Position Summary:
The Field Medical Assistant (MA) works alongside a Nurse Practitioner to provide in-home medical visits to patients throughout the Southshore region, including New Orleans and surrounding communities. This role requires a highly organized, flexible, and dependable individual who is comfortable working in the field, traveling between patient homes, and assisting with medical provider assessments.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred
• Previous experience in home health or hospice strongly preferred
• Experience assisting medical providers with patient assessments and clinical documentation
• Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while supporting a Nurse Practitioner during patient visits
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Willingness to travel throughout the Southshore/New Orleans area for patient visits
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently while in the field
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Ability to remain flexible and adapt to a changing daily schedule and patient needs
• Comfortable entering patient homes and working in various environments
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and mobile documentation tools preferred
