Description
JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates patient care with physicians, assists with assessments, administers medication as ordered, and supports administrative duties related to patient care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Support
- Greets patients, escorts them to exam rooms, prepares for exams or treatments, and takes vital signs.
- Assists physicians as requested.
- Performs spirometry and other breathing tests as ordered.
- Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment, including sterilization.
- Provides patient education when appropriate.
- Documents appropriately in patients' medical records.
- Calls in prescriptions as ordered by physicians or nurse practitioners.
- Performs allergy prick testing and intradermal testing as ordered.
- Administers allergy injections following physician-approved schedules.
- Monitors patients for adverse reactions post-injection.
- Maintains emergency equipment such as oxygen, suction, and code kits.
- Responds to patient-related calls following clinical protocols.
- Follows up on referrals and insurance authorizations as needed.
- Maintains clinical supplies and medication samples.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and practice guidelines.
- Uses practice management and related computer software proficiently.
- Attends CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, and OIG training as required.
- Participates in meetings and completes assigned training within deadlines.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma required.
- CMA certification desirable.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of one year clinical assisting experience.
- Comfortable with email and internet applications.
- Knowledge of practice management and word processing software.
- Good communication skills.
- Neat, professional appearance.
