Job summary

Minnetonka Public School Service Center seeks an Aquatics/Lifeguard for the Minnetonka Aquatics Center and MMW pool, with flexible scheduling including weekday afternoons/evenings and Sundays.

Starting pay is $16.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications. Summer schedules differ from regular school-year schedules, with 3–15 hours per week available.

Qualifications

• Certification as American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Experience as a waterfront lifeguard is preferred.
• Knowledge of water safety surveillance techniques as demonstrated in a practical assessment.
• Leadership, public relations, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Capable of maintaining confidentiality.
• Age requirements: at least 16 to work at public beaches and 15 at MME/MMW pools.
• Complete Physical Fitness Swim Assessment (550 yd, 20 yd brick retrieval, 15 yd underwater swim, 2 min treading).

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

3. Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to all emergency situations and administer first aid as needed.
4. Monitor facility and equipment to ensure safety.
5. Oversee activities within the pool and surrounding areas.
6. Actively participate and engage in regular in‑service training sessions.
7. Enforce all policies and rules in a consistent, professional manner.
8. Maintain a high level of professionalism.

Job Qualifications

3. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and ability to perform water safety surveillance techniques as demonstrated in a physical assessment described below.

7. Must be at least 16 years of age to work at one of our public beaches and at least 15 years of age to work at the MME and MMW pools.
8. Must be able to successfully complete the Physical Fitness Swim Assessment: 550 yd continuous swim, freestyle and breaststroke; 20 yard swim followed by a 5 lb brick retrieval at 7‑10 ft depth, then kick back to the beginning on back while holding the brick; 15 yd underwater swim while retrieving multiple rings; 2 minutes treading water with no hands.
