Job Summary

This is a fully remote position for candidates who reside in FL, GA, IN, LA, MS, NV, NC, OK, SC, VA, WY; video conferencing and attendance onsite are required as directed by Corporate Coding Leadership.

Abstracts and codes medical data at the Certified Hospital Coder III level. This coder’s primary responsibilities are related to all inpatient accounts as assigned. Team members receive training upon hire through the education team or other team specific onboarding plan. Supervisors monitor the progress of the team members, assisting the team member to achieve productivity and accuracy expectations. Additional training may be provided to the team member as needed for new topics or areas of concern that are identified for the team member. All applicants receive assessments prior to scheduling interviews. These assessments evaluate knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT coding as appropriate. Overtime may be required as dictated by organizational business needs.

Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Experience: Minimum three years of experience with acute inpatient coding with CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, COC, CIC, CRC, or zero years with RHIA or RHIT, required.
  • Licensure/Certification: See experience requirements.
  • Additional Skills Required: Knowledge of ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, CPT classification system, advanced medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, basic computer skills, effective communication, and ability to work independently. Capacity to work overtime and travel as needed. Physical ability to work in a seated position for extended periods and perform detailed data entry.
  • Additional Skills Preferred include: proficiency in data entry, detailed coding, ongoing education, research skills, active participation in meetings, and teamwork.
