Job summary

Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice is seeking a compassionate Care Assistant to support patients in daily activities and medical needs. The role includes assisting with bathing, feeding, transfers, and vital sign checks under RN supervision.

Compensation includes $21.00 per hour, a $1.00 weekend differential, and a $1,000 sign-on bonus paid over 6 months. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401K, and tuition reimbursement.

Responsibilities

• Assists patient with personal and oral hygiene, bathing and grooming as directed.
• Accurately takes and records vital signs and reports changes to RN.
• Safely assists patients with transfers to bed, chair and commode.
• Assists bed-bound patients with range of motion, turning and positioning.
• Records intake and output accurately and timely.
• Provides bowel/bladder care and assists with toileting needs.
• Performs catheter care under policy and procedure guidance.
• Applies colostomy bags, anti-embolic stockings and simple dressings per RN instruction.
• Administers tepid sitz baths and assists patient self-administering medications.
• Demonstrates safe use of hoyer lift as instructed by RN.
• Prepares meals and assists with feeding per dietary instructions.
• Notices and reports changes in patient condition or family situation.
• Documents thoroughly and submits records via Celltrack.
• Maintains clean, organized patient environment.
• Supports attendance and participates in required in-service education.

Job description

Compensation: $21.00 per hour. $1.00 per hour shift differential on weekends.

$1,000.00 Sign on bonus paid out over 6 months.

Medical/Medical stipend, Dental Vision, benefit time, 401K, Tuition reimbursement.

• Assists patient with all aspects of personal and oral hygiene which includes bathing (complete and assisted), care of hair and skin and backrubs.
• Accurately takes and records vital signs.
• Safely assists patients with transfers to bed, chair and commode.
• Safely assists bed-bound patients with appropriate range of motion exercises and required turning and positioning.
• Performs accurate recording of intake and output (I&O).
• Follows a bowel/bladder training program; provides bowel/bladder incontinence care and assists with all aspects of toileting.
• Performs all aspects of catheter care according to policy and procedure.
• Applies colostomy bags, anti-embolic stockings, braces and simple dressings as instructed and demonstrated by the RN.
• Safely administers tepid sitz baths; assists patients in self-administering prescribed medication.
• Demonstrates safe and effective use of hoyer lift as instructed and demonstrated by the RN.
• Prepares patient's meals and assists with feeding according to dietary instructions.
• Observes the patients physical and emotional status and reports on a timely basis any changes in the patient's condition or family situation.
• Assists with post-mortem care as instructed by the RN.
• Accurately completes all aspects of documentation and submits via Celltrack.
• Safely changes occupied or unoccupied bed.
• Keeps patient environment neat and clean.
• Incorporates consideration of the physiological and developmental age of patients into the overall plan for the delivery of patient care.
• Participates in all required in service education programs and meetings.
• Demonstrates a commitment to own work schedule by adhering to attendance standards. Provides proper notification in advance for absence and tardiness.
• Adheres to employment policies in accordance with the Employee Handbook
• Demonstrates compliance with the dress code policy by appearing well groomed, wearing ID badge while on duty and maintaining a professional appearance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
