Job summary

Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice is seeking a compassionate Home Health Aide with CHHA certification to support patients in New Jersey. You will assist with personal care, hygiene, vital signs, transfers, feeding, and medication support as directed by the RN.

Position offers $21.00 per hour with a $1.00 weekend differential, and a certification stipend up to $600, plus a benefits package including medical stipend, dental/vision, benefit time, 401K, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• CHHA certification required.
• Good clinical and communication skills.
• Ability to perform personal care tasks as directed.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with personal and oral hygiene including bathing.
• Records vital signs accurately.
• Assists transfers to bed, chair and commode.
• Performs ROM exercises and turning/positioning for bed-bound patients.
• Records intake and output (I&O).
• Provides bowel/bladder care and assists with toileting.
• Performs catheter care per policy and procedure.
• Assists with colostomy bags and anti-embolic stockings per RN instruction.
• Safely administers tepid sitz baths and assists with prescribed medications.
• Demonstrates safe use of hoyer lift as instructed by the RN.
• Prepares meals and assists with feeding according to dietary instructions.
• Observes patient status and reports changes in condition or family situation.
• Assists with post-mortem care as instructed by the RN.

Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice will pay up to $600.00 for the certification.

Compensation: $21.00 per hour. $1.00 per hour shift differential on weekends.

• Assists patient with all aspects of personal and oral hygiene which includes bathing (complete and assisted), care of hair and skin and backrubs.
• Accurately takes and records vital signs.
• Safely assists patients with transfers to bed, chair and commode.
• Safely assists bed-bound patients with appropriate range of motion exercises and required turning and positioning.
• Performs accurate recording of intake and output (I&O).
• Follows a bowel/bladder training program; provides bowel/bladder incontinence care and assists with all aspects of toileting.
• Performs all aspects of catheter care according to policy and procedure.
• Applies colostomy bags, anti-embolic stockings, braces and simple dressings as instructed and demonstrated by the RN.
• Safely administers tepid sitz baths; assists patients in self-administering prescribed medication.
• Demonstrates safe and effective use of hoyer lift as instructed and demonstrated by the RN.
• Prepares patient's meals and assists with feeding according to dietary instructions.
• Observes the patients physical and emotional status and reports on a timely basis any changes in the patient's condition or family situation.
• Assists with post-mortem care as instructed by the RN.
