Certified High School Chemistry Science Teacher [25'-26' School Year]

Join to apply for the Certified High School Chemistry Science Teacher [25'-26' School Year] role at STEM Preparatory Academy.

Position Overview:

Faculty at STEM Preparatory Academy will be responsible for planning, enacting, and evaluating highly effective and ambitious instruction tailored to students’ needs. The successful applicants will deliver a college preparatory curriculum aligned with the Common Core and Tennessee standards. All teachers are also tasked with fostering and maintaining the STEM Prep culture of excellence and achievement by modeling learning and leadership behaviors for students, staff, parents, and the community. Teachers are coached by Academic Deans but report to the Assistant Principal and Principal.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in education or the subject to be taught, with a valid teaching license from the state.
  • Tennessee Teaching License with endorsement in Chemistry.
  • Strong Science content knowledge, especially in Chemistry.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
  • Alignment with STEM Prep values and understanding of its mission.
  • High personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Commitment to high academic standards and expectations for all students.
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and effectively communicate with students and staff.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess instruction aligned to national and state standards and school benchmarks.
  • Implement the college preparatory curriculum using evidence-based practices tailored to students’ needs.
  • Reflect on teaching practices regularly and adapt as needed to meet school goals.
  • Develop relationships with parents and the community to support student learning.
  • Implement accommodations for ELL and students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure student success.
  • Participate in professional development and serve as a test administrator for state assessments.
  • Engage with families to support ELL students’ language and content learning.
  • Contribute to a positive, engaging, and structured classroom environment.
  • Innovate and create inquiry-oriented activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including extended professional development.

The salary is based on a Step Scale considering experience and education.
