Job summary

Physicians Pavilion Surgery Center seeks a Certified First Assist to work under the operating surgeon. The role involves assisting as first/second assistant, restocking rooms between cases, and ensuring safe, efficient procedures per ASA standards.

You will collaborate with the surgical team, prep and drape patients, manage exposure and hemostasis, and assist with closures under the surgeon’s direction. Eligible candidates have CSFA/CSA, BLS, and at least one year OR experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited program in surgical assisting.
• CSFA credential from NBSTSA.
• BLS certification required.
• One year OR experience, preferably in ambulatory surgery centers.
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) credential.
• Valid BCLS certification upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon as first/second assistant during operative procedures.
• Restock and turnover rooms between cases.
• Communicate needs with the surgeon before cases and share information with the surgical team.
• Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping per protocol.
• Support exposure and hemostasis to ensure safe procedures.
• Facilitate hemostasis with suction, irrigation, and sponging during surgery.
• Assist with skin closure and suturing under surgeon guidance.
