Job description

At Ellerbrock-Norris Wealth Strategies, we help clients protect their purpose through thoughtful financial planning, wealth management, retirement planning, tax-efficient strategies, and long-term stewardship.

Wealth Strategies is part of the broader Ellerbrock-Norris organization, a privately owned firm with more than 120 years of history serving businesses and individuals. Our teams span Commercial Insurance, Employee Benefits, Personal Insurance, Risk Management & Safety, and Wealth Strategies, giving us the opportunity to serve clients across both their business and personal financial lives.

We believe great financial advice goes beyond investments. It starts with understanding the full picture and helping clients make confident decisions about their future.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Financial Planner who really enjoys the planning work.

This is a planning-first role for a CFP® professional who enjoys digging into a client’s financial picture, identifying opportunities, developing thoughtful strategies, and helping clients navigate important financial decisions.

This is not a business-development-driven role, and you do not need to bring a book of business.

During the first year, you’ll work closely with our Senior Wealth Advisor to develop financial plans, participate in client meetings, learn our planning philosophy, and gain a deep understanding of our existing client relationships.

As you grow in the role, you’ll take on greater responsibility in client conversations and relationships. For someone who ultimately wants to grow into a broader Advisor role, there is a clear path to do so.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop comprehensive financial plans based on each client’s goals, needs, and financial circumstances
  • Analyze client financial information and identify planning opportunities
  • Develop strategies across retirement, investments, tax-efficient planning, estate planning considerations, wealth transfer, and other areas of a client’s financial life
  • Prepare for and participate in discovery, planning, review, and recommendation meetings
  • Partner closely with our Senior Wealth Advisor to develop and communicate planning strategies
  • Help clients understand complex financial decisions and the strategies available to them
  • Coordinate with clients, internal team members, and outside professionals to support implementation of planning recommendations
  • Support the ongoing service and retention of existing client relationships
  • Gradually assume greater responsibility for client conversations and relationships as you grow in the role
  • Identify opportunities to improve client outcomes through proactive financial planning
  • Stay current on financial planning strategies, industry developments, and regulatory changes
  • Collaborate across the Wealth Strategies team to provide a seamless client experience
  • Contribute ideas to continuously improve our planning processes, tools, and client deliverables

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • 3+ years of hands-on financial planning experience
  • Experience developing or supporting comprehensive financial plans
  • Strong understanding of retirement, investment, tax, and estate planning concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly
  • Desire to work directly with clients and grow your client-facing responsibilities over time
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach

Preferred

  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and/or business owners
  • Experience partnering with senior or lead advisors on complex client relationships
  • Familiarity with financial planning and wealth management technology
  • Experience collaborating with CPAs, attorneys, or other outside professionals
  • CEPA, CExP, or interest in pursuing advanced planning designations

Why Ellerbrock-Norris Wealth Strategies?

You’ll join an established and growing Wealth Strategies practice with the support of a broader organization that already has trusted relationships with business owners and families throughout the region.

You won’t be expected to arrive with a book of business or spend your days cold prospecting. Instead, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on becoming an exceptional planner, work alongside an experienced Senior Wealth Advisor, participate in meaningful client relationships, and build toward greater responsibility over time.

For someone who loves financial planning but wants a path to eventually become an Advisor, this role offers the opportunity to do both.
