Job summary

Sentara Health in Woodbridge, VA, is seeking a Clinical Exercise Specialist who will provide quality exercise and health education under licensed supervision. You will administer treatments, supervise daily sessions, and help develop individualized plans to meet client needs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and certifications (BLS, ACLS as applicable) within stated timelines. Join a supportive team focused on patient care and program development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health Science, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Recreational Therapy or Physical Education.
• BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• ACLS certification required within 90 days for Clinical Exercise Specialist in Pulmonary/Cardiology departments.
• Demonstrates productive daily operations and safety during sessions.
• Provides instruction to clients and families through educational programs.
• Documents patient responses to treatment and updates the exercise plan as needed.
• Supports therapists/providers in treatment planning and completes other clinical duties.

Responsibilities

Overview

Under the direction and guidance of a licensed clinician, the therapist provides quality exercise and health education for patients, assuring a safe, pleasant, and professional atmosphere. The therapist administers therapy treatments under the direct supervision of licensed leader.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required) Exercise Science, Health Science, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Recreational Therapy, Physical Education.
• BLS is required within 90 days for hire.

Certification/Licensure

• ACLS is required within 90 days of hire for Clinical Exercise Specialist who work in Pulmonary/Cardiology Departments.

Experience

• Productive and efficient in daily operations.
• Establishes and updates the exercise program to address the Client/participant’s needs. Supervises and assists clients/participants with their daily exercise sessions, ensuring client/participant safety.
• Provides effective instruction to Clients/participants and their families through standardized educational programs and/or individualized training. Supports the health education needs of the center.
• Supports Therapist(s)/Providers in providing effective treatment plans. Documents patient response to treatment.
• Completes other clinical duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates ability to offer support and potential enhancements of services.
