Qualifications

• The ability to type a minimum of 30 wpm.
• The ability to accurately transcribe spoken information for first responders.
• The ability to maintain composure, reassure callers, and collect precise information in crises.
• The ability to take information from multiple sources and produce a concise narrative with key facts.
• The aptitude to paraphrase vital information concisely.
• The ability to prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.

Responsibilities

• Receive 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls and dispatch appropriate responders.
• Interpret caller information to determine incident priority and respond accordingly.
• Relay locations and other critical data to responding units across agencies.
• Operate multiple radio, phone, and computer systems simultaneously.
• Monitor screens to track calls and on-duty personnel.
• Access confidential files and maintain entry records as needed.
• Transmit and receive information over multiple radio frequencies.
• Inform agencies of law enforcement, fire, and EMS calls.
• Broadcast Amber Alerts when required.
• Place calls related to vehicle dispositions, wreckers, and notifications.
