Job summary

Beaufort County School District seeks certified tutors to provide intensive academic support for identified students at Hilton Head Island Elementary (High-Needs School). The role is part-time/temporary and focuses on one-on-one and small-group tutoring to develop essential skills.

Tutors will collaborate with classroom teachers, maintain progress records, and participate in training sessions to strengthen instructional methods and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid teaching certificate or proof of retirement from teaching.
• Prior tutoring experience preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse students and adapt instruction.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies.

Responsibilities

• Tutors identified students either in groups or one-on-one as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Collaborates with the teacher to assess students and plan tutorial delivery.
• Maintains records on each tutored student and tracks progress.
• Assists in designing and implementing cooperative group projects.
• Attends periodic training to improve tutoring competency.
