Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in Hamilton, NJ is seeking a Certified Echocardiograph Technician to perform inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms, TEEs, and stress echoes in the Non-Invasive Cardiac Lab. Responsibilities include assisting physicians, validating orders, protecting patient ID safety, and maintaining imaging equipment in a patient-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required alongside graduation from an approved school for cardiopulmonary technology.
• An Associate Degree in Science is preferred.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by ARDMS is preferred, or must be achieved within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performing high-quality inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms, stress echos, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE).
• Assisting physicians directly with stress echo and transesophageal testing workflows while preparing results for final clinical interpretation.
• Verifying physician orders, confirming correct patient identification using two distinct identifiers, and safely instructing patients on the upcoming procedure.
• Leveraging knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and extensive EKG data to accurately follow technical criteria for preliminary reports.
• Maintaining complex echocardiography equipment in good working order, adjusting for appropriate settings, and reporting maintenance defects.
• Complying strictly with healthcare infection control protocols and department-wide patient safety initiatives.

Education
