Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is hiring a Petco Certified Dog Trainer to advance the bond between pet parents and their dogs. You will deliver one-on-one and group training, recommend programs and products, and support guests with a 360-degree approach to pet health and wellness.

You will complete the 6-week DTIP, maintain training records, and collaborate with grooming and veterinary teams to offer holistic solutions. This role emphasizes safety, customer service, and ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• Passion for animal care, training, and welfare.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and breeds safely.
• Strong organizational skills for multitasking.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Familiarity with computer systems to manage training records.

Responsibilities

• Provide World Class Dog Training Services.
• Attend and pass Petco’s 6-week Dog Trainer Instructor Program.
• Complete all DTIP modules and workbook materials.
• Recommend and sell appropriate dog training classes, training, and supplies.
• Keep accurate records of training sessions and progress.
• Work cross-functionally with grooming and veterinary teams.
• Provide 360-degree solutions for all Petco guests.
• Provide an outstanding guest experience by recommending merchandise and services.
• Generate future business through understanding guests and their pets.
• Demonstrate health and welfare knowledge for animals.
• Promote a positive culture of teamwork and collaboration.
• Adhere to policies and procedures.
• Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Evaluate guest inquiries and refer to Leader on Duty as needed.
