Job summary

County of Sierra seeks a Certified Deputy for the Sierra County Sheriff's Office in Truth or Consequences, NM. The role involves enforcing laws, patrolling, responding to incidents, providing court security, and serving the community with professionalism.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with a salary range of $24.01–$25.47 per hour. Applicants must have a high school diploma, First Aid/CPR, a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass background checks and a psychological assessment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background screening / investigation.
• Must have no DWI convictions within the past five years.
• Must have no felony convictions.
• Cannot be on probation or parole for any conviction.
• Cannot have more than two speeding tickets within the past two years.
• Must pass a psychological assessment.

Responsibilities

• Upholds Sierra County’s code of justice with integrity and enforces laws.
• Patrols County areas, roads, and highways to respond to calls and ensure safety.
• Conducts patrols to prevent criminal activity and protect property.
• Responds to emergencies via radio, phone, and other communications.
• Arrests individuals and conducts preliminary investigations as needed.
• Provides court security and testifies in court as required.
• Maintains records, reports, and coordination with agencies.
