Job summary

Gentle Dental Albany Children's in Albany, Oregon, seeks a compassionate Pediatric Dental Assistant to join the team part-time. You will assist pediatric dentists, help children feel at ease, and prepare rooms and materials for procedures.

Radiographs and preventive education are part of the role, with emphasis on a positive, family-friendly visit. The ideal candidate holds an Oregon EFDA or EFPDA certification, CPR/BLS, and excellent communication skills to support young patients and families

Qualifications

• EFDA or Expanded Functions Preventive Dental Assistant certification is required.
• Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patient, compassionate approach with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist pediatric dentists during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Help children feel comfortable and supported throughout visits.
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care.

• Pay: $23.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on experience

What You'll Do

• Assist pediatric dentists during examinations, treatments, and procedures

• Help children feel comfortable and supported throughout their visits

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for patient care

• Take radiographs and other diagnostic records as permitted by Oregon regulations

• Educate children and parents on oral hygiene and preventive dental care

• Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation

• Follow infection control, sterilization, and safety protocols

• Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient care and a positive office experience

Qualifications

• Current Oregon Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) or Expanded Functions Preventive Dental Assistant (EFPDA) certification

• Current Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS Certification

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• A patient, compassionate approach to working with children

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative clinical environment

Additional qualifications that may increase starting pay:

• Previous pediatric dental assisting experience

• X-ray certification, as applicable

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
