Job description

Overview

Walbec Group produces high-quality construction materials and delivers design, engineering, and construction services across six companies, including Payne and Dolan, Northeast Asphalt, Zenith Tech, Parisi, Premier Concrete, and Construction Resources Management.

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Shop Foreman, maintain crane equipment operation through inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform oil sampling, diagnose hydraulic oil leaks, and make proper repairs. Address minor electrical issues and recognize safety-related problems such as seat belt replacement, strobe lights, and working lights.
  • Inspect various equipment and vehicles, document repairs, greasing, and washing as needed.
  • Use operators’ and service manuals to complete tasks according to manufacturer and company guidelines.
  • Create and charge work orders, including parts, billing time, and locating serial numbers and machine history.
  • Understand and follow shop procedures, use proper PPE, fall protection, and lock‑out tag‑out methods, and apply double‑blocking and jacking procedures.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, test lights, and load testers to perform repairs.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, sweeping floors, scrubbing surfaces, removing clutter, cleaning benches, handling trash, and securing cords.
  • Ensure proper de‑energization of stored energy sources and enforce safety practices.
Qualifications
  • Crane inspection certification.
  • Strong technical understanding, attention to detail, and thoroughness.
  • Good communication skills and ability to act as a self‑starter.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in crane and heavy equipment repairs.
  • Sound knowledge of all repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery.
  • High School diploma or equivalent vocational training or certification from an accredited organization.
  • Ability to use hand signals and work well as a team player.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and punctuality.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work varied hours, including overtime as needed.
