Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. in South Carolina is seeking a skilled crane operator to lift, move and position loads on construction sites. You will operate hydraulic, friction and boom trucks safely and according to load charts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Completion of a Crane course at a certified trade school or seminar.
• NCCCO or NCCER certification.
• Must pass certification prior to operating equipment.
• DOT physical may be required.
• OSHA 10 training.
• Baseline reading, writing and communication with supervisor.
• Basic math to calculate load weights and balance points.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in challenging environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment which lifts, hoists or moves materials for construction purposes.
• Move hand levers, adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to drive machines and control attachments such as swing booms.
• May maintain equipment using grease gun and oil can.
• May direct workers engaged in placing blocks and outriggers on cranes.
• Fasten attachments, connect hydraulic hoses, belts and linkages.
• Inspect equipment daily to ensure safe operation before use.
• Must follow OSHA regulations regarding hoisting methods and practices, barricades and backup alarms.
• Must verify load weights, read load charts, and understand standard hand signals.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
• Assess weather conditions prior to attempting the lift.
• Other duties as assigned.
