Job summary

Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska seeks a Certified Coder I to assign ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures and to abstract data into the hospital’s financial and clinical systems.

The role requires CCS/CCS-P or CPC/CPC-H certification, 6 months of medical records experience, and strong typing (50 wpm). Training will cover 3M Coding and reimbursement workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successfully pass Records Custodian Class.
• Successfully completed Medical Terminology Course.
• Successfully completed ICD-9 (or equivalent) Course.
• Successfully completed CPT-4 (or equivalent) Course.
• 6 months experience in medical records.
• Must be CCS/CCS-P or CPC/CPC-H.
• AAPC or AHIMA certification required.
• Able to type 50 wpm or faster.
• Able to use 3M Code 3 Coding and Reimbursement system.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures.
