Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year of relevant medical or laboratory experience required.
• BLS (CPR) certification and current phlebotomy licensure from ASCP, ASPT, NHA or AMT is required.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens with proper patient identification using correct techniques for blood and throat cultures.
• Perform CLIA-allowed point-of-care testing and report results accurately.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Provide instructions for specimen collection tailored to patient age and needs.
• Process laboratory orders accurately and handle STAT requests promptly.
• Assist with billing coordination related to specimen processing.
• Maintain sanitary work areas and safe supply levels.
• Document safety incidents and contribute to process improvements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
