Job summary

Penn Medicine in Plainsboro, NJ is seeking a Central Sterile Processing team member. You will check instrumentation for defects, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments, and assemble sets and trays according to procedures.

Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfection, documenting sterilization records, PPE usage, and assisting with stock rotation and inventory control. Rotating weekends with a 3pm–11:30pm schedule; compensation aligns with market practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in sterile processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect medical instrumentation using approved methods.
• Retrieve soiled instrumentation and IV pumps from relevant areas.
• Assemble instrument sets and trays per manufacturer instructions.
• Document and maintain sterilization records.
• Follow PPE procedures and safety guidelines.
• Package equipment after decontamination and prep for redistribution.
• Assist with stock rotation and check expiration dates.
• Monitor inventory and restock as needed.

Summary

• As a member of the Central Sterile Processing team, checks instrumentation for defects and cleanliness; assembles instrument sets and trays according to established procedures. Responsibilities also include, but are not limited to, decontaminating and sterilizing surgical instrumentation and supplies. Participates in Quality initiatives in the department.

• ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• 1. Responsible for proper cleaning and disinfection of medical instrumentation using appropriate methods.
• 2. Retrieves soiled instrumentation and IV pumps from the Ambulatory Service Center and Labor and Delivery.
• 3. Assembles instrument sets and trays following proper manufacturer instructions.
• 4. Properly documents and maintains sterilization records.
• 5. Follows procedures relative to proper use of PPE.
• 6. Packages equipment following decontamination process and prepares items for redistribution.
• 7. Participates in the rotation of stock and inspects stock for expiration dates.
• 8. Ensures proper code cart inventory, restocking as needed.
• OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• 1. Assesses equipment and separates defective items from rotation and sends items to Biomed for repair.
• 2. Effectively uses the instrument tracking to support inventory control reorders supplies as needed.
• 3. Participates in departmental Quality initiatives and educational in services.

Credentials

• Cert Central Supply Tech (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience

• High School Graduate/GED/Equivalent Work Exp required
• Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program preferred

Salary Range

$20.95 - $33.42/Hourly
