Job summary

Minnesota City Jobs is seeking a Building Inspector in Columbia Heights, MN. The role reports to the Building Official and focuses on inspections and enforcement of building, plumbing, and mechanical codes, including overseeing the City's Time of Sale program.

The inspector conducts plan reviews, coordinates with homeowners, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure code compliance, and provides support to Permits and Licensing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with post-secondary training in building trades.
• Minnesota Building Official Limited certification is required.
• Valid Minnesota Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections to ensure compliance with building, plumbing, and mechanical codes.
• Conduct plan reviews for permits and applications.
• Coordinate with homeowners, contractors, and other stakeholders to enforce code requirements.
• Provide support to Permits and Licensing staff and coordinate with the City Planner on zoning compliance.
