Job summary

The Town of Duxbury is seeking a Local Building and Code Enforcement Inspector to issue licenses and perform inspections for buildings, food establishments, and housing. You will review plans, enforce state and local codes, and coordinate with the Director of Municipal Services to ensure public safety and compliance with zoning bylaws.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent; 5+ years building construction/design experience.
• Massachusetts license requirements: Licensed as Local Building Inspector; ServSafe; valid driver’s license.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret codes; strong communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Issues licenses for buildings and permits; inspect structures for code compliance.
• Review architectural plans for code requirements and zoning by-laws; approve building permits.
• Explain requirements and procedures; advise contractors and owners on construction/materials.
